08.30.02: ECTS--Do
they teach this in Sniper School?
Eurogamer has a short preview up taking in the sights and sounds
of Devastation from the show floor. The article talks about the
atmosphere of the game and the physics. Plus, there's even a strategy
tip:
Accidentally kicking beer cans or moving things around makes
noise, so it's even possible to drop litter behind you to make it
harder for people to sneak up on you while you're busy sniping
You can check out the whole preview here.
08.28.02: IGN's Action
Vault gets the dirt on Devastation
The crew over at IGN's Action Vault sat down with the Digitalo
team and asked them every question they could think of. And as a
result, they ended up with a very informative and interesting interview.
Here's a taste:
Action Vault: What different types of weapons can players expect
to use during the game? How many types are there in total, and are
any of them especially out of the ordinary?
Ray Davis: We have a pretty wide range of weapon types, including
melee weapons like katana swords and bowie knives, several varieties
of pistols - both silenced and akimbo versions, combat shotguns,
four different rifles, grenades, a couple different SMGs, and three
different fully automatic weapons. And that's just the normal weapons...
some of the unusual weapons that we've been playing with include
a modified harpoon gun, a high-powered laser rifle, and a player-controlled
rat drone that can be used as a scouting tool or detonated remotely
to give your enemies a little surprise (and gives everybody a healthy
dose of vermin-phobia).

08.07.02: HomeLan
profiles Lead Designer Barry Gibbs
Well, it's that time again! Time for HomeLan Federations' monthly
developer bio, and this time it's Lead Designer Barry Gibbs. John
at HomeLan came knocking on the door with a list of questions, and
Barry answered with enthusiasm.
HomeLAN - Finally, why should everyone reading this be excited
about Devastation?
Barry Gibbs - It should help cure the aching hole in the soul
of the multiplayer freak. Itll spread smiles of delight, re-energizing
the mod community. Then theres the singleplayer adventure
that will thrust you into a fresh and stylish, action-packed world,
traveling from territory to territory kicking ass all the way.
Good times. To get to know Barry better yourself, check

07.16.02: Vic from Digitalo
talks to HomeLan
In the first of a monthly series of developer bios, HomeLan Federation
gets to know Vic DeLeon, the Senior Producer of Devastation.
HomeLAN - What's your favorite part?
Vic DeLeon - My favorite without a doubt is directing level
design. The maps in Devastation's single player and multiplayer
games reflect a quality you'd expect in a well-designed movie set,
thanks to the elite skills of our Lead LD's Torbjorn and Ben, and
over eighteen months of labor from our entire Level Design Team.
We've got some truly amazing-looking environments thanks to the
talent, but the real challenge is designing them from the beginning
to be fun for gameplay, maintaining the aesthetic appeal and "cinematic"
style at the same time. We've all been paying close attention to
flow in the levels, avoiding the common problems we remember from
our collective experiences with other games of the genre.

06.02: Games Domain
Asks Digitalo About Devastation
Shortly after E3, Games Domain decided that it wanted to find out
what Devastation was all about, and the crew at Digitalo was more
than happy to sit down and chat for awhile. Of interest was the
new multiplayer game Devastation will bring to the table.
GamesDomain: What can you tell us about the vaunted "new
style of multiplayer gaming?" Can you reveal any details concerning
what mission types there will be?
Vic DeLeon: Devastation features a new, hybrid gametype called
"Territories", which is a finely balanced yet dynamic
team-based gametype which incorporates rules of domination along
with capture the flag scenarios, and ends up in a co-op "last
man standing" scenario by employing destructible spawn points.
Standard fare like death match, team DM, and CTF variations are
also in the works.
